Art Academy of Latvia student wins Fashion Future for Hong Kong 2016 design contest
Evija Šaitere, a graduate of the Art Academy of Latvia (LMA) Faculty of Design, Department of Fashion Design, has won the Champion award at the international Fashion Future for Hong Kong 2016 fashion design contest organised by The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Evija competed with students from London’s “Central Saint Martins”, the Parisian “Institut Français de la Mode” and other world renowned fashion and design institutions.
“It was a most unexpected surprise for me to receive the award for best design collection, especially considering the other 17 contestants of the Fashion Future for Hong Kong 2016 contest. Having witnessed the tremendous global competition and the incredible projects that the contestants were so invested in, I understood that both the runway and the contest as a whole were meant to be enjoyed as an invaluable experience. I entered the contest with my “Backbone” collection – four garment sets. I truly appreciate this recognition and it serves as a powerful motivator for me to continue my work. I am also most grateful to the support of my patroness Ināra Tetereva, as well as the State Culture Capital Foundation (SCCF)” says Evija Šaitere.
Latvijas Mākslas akadēmijas (LMA) Dizaina nodaļas Modes mākslas apakšnozares diplomande Evija Šaitere ir ieguvusi Čempiona balvu starptautiskā “Fashion Future for Hong Kong 2016” modes dizaina konkursā, kuru rīko Honkongas Politehniskā universitāte (The Hong Kong Polytechnic University).
