It is Saturday morning and, approaching any Latvian House for the first time, what are the pointers that indicate we have arrived at the correct location?
From a distance we hear the happy voices of children playing, interspersed with the sound of a bouncing basketball and perhaps interjections of “go Porzinģis”. The entrance gates are more than likely decorated with Latvian symbols and decorations, and the air is filled with the mouth-watering aromas of freshly baked “pīrāgi”. We can be sure that we have reached the correct destination, when we find the front doormat emblazoned with the greeting “SVEIKS”.

Kad pirmo reizi sestdienas rītā dodamies uz kādu latviešu namu, kas ir tās lietas, kas liecina, ka esam ieradušies pareizajā vietā?
Jau pa gabalu ir dzirdamas priecīgas bērnu balsis, ik pa reizi dzird bumbas skaņas un iespējams arī izsaucienu ” go Porziņģis”, ieejas vārti bieži, jo bieži rotāti ar latvju rakstiem un gaisā svaigi ceptu pīrāgu smarža. Tomēr pavisam droši, ka esam nonākuši pareizajā vietā, ja pie nama durvīm redzam paklāju uz kura rakstīts “SVEIKS”.
