Today was the first rehearsal for the musical “Eslingena”, to be perfomed later this year, during the 56th Australian Latvian Arts Festival in Melbourne.
Produced by the Australian Latvian Theatre group and directed by Ieva Kains, a large group of Melbourne Latvians have come together to present the musical “Eslingena” in its first Australian performance. First performed in Canada in 2004 and in Latvia in 2005, “Eslingena” is based on life in a displaced persons camp in Esslingen, Germany, after the second World War. Esslingen hosted the largest contingent of Latvian refugees in Germany, if not in the world. This beautiful story with romance, laughter, and tears reflects the lives of Latvians forced to leave their homes and face an uncertain future in distant lands.

Šogad Austrālijas latviešu 56 Kultūras dienās Austrālijas latviešu teātris, režisores Ievas Kaines vadībā uzvedīs dziesmuspēli “Eslingena”. Dziesmuspēles sastāvs ir liels un tur piedalīsies daudzi tautieši no Melburnas un arī no Sidnejas!
Šodien Melburnas latviešu namā notika pirmais mēģinājums!
Pirmo reizi “Eslingena” tika izrādīta Kanādā un tad vēlāk arī Latvijā. Stāstījums ir par dzīvi bēgļu nometnē Eslingenā, kura bija lielākā latviešu nometne visā Vācijā, ja ne visā pasaulē. Skaists stāsts, romantika, smiekli, asaras….. par to kā latviešiem gāja dodoties trimdā…..
