On the 6th November 2016, the Sydney Latvian male choir hosted their 60th anniversary concert, at the Latvian House in Strathfield, Sydney.

A festive atmosphere greeted guests in the arrival foyer, where a photographic exhibition of past and present conductors, musicians, choristers, and family was on display. A strong theme of the exhibition was the feeling of the choir as family. Indeed, the choir is known to have strong intergenerational ties – a number of founding and early members have been joined by their sons and grandsons, sharing their love of song through the years.

The program was a delight, with contemporary and classic works spread across three concert parts. Solo and duet parts were performed by choristers Oskars Štubis, Toms Mačēns and Ivars Štubis, and accompaniment by pianist Ingrīda Šakurova, violinist Daina Kaina, and saxophonist Ben Goldsmith, with conductors Daina Jaunbērziņa and Ivars Štubis leading from the rostrum. Rapturous applause followed song, both choir and audience delighted!

After the choir and audience toasted the choir’s 60th anniversary with champagne.

2016.gada 6.novembrī Sidnejas Latviesu vīru koris rīkoja 60 gadu jubilejas koncertu.

Jau ieejot Latviešu namā, pārņēma svētku sajūta, jo foajē bija iespēja pakavēties atmiņās apskatot kora dzīvi foto istādē. It īpaši varēja sekot līdz ”kora ģimenēm”- kur vectēvi, viņu dēli un mazdēli caur gadiem dziedājuši SLVK.
