The annual National Multicultural Festival will be held in Canberra from the 12th. to 14th. of February, 2016. As part of this festival and for one day only, on the 13th.February, there will be a display stand organised by the Latvian Foreign Ministry in the European Union (EU) section: “EU Village”. This project was initiated by the Latvian Ambassador to Australia and New Zealand, Andris Teikmanis. With his assistance, and that of his Embassy staff, particularly Ilze Voitina, together with the provision of a broad range of material prepared by the Latvian Institute, the Latvian section of the EU Village will be organised and staffed by energetic volunteers from the Latvian community in Canberra, such as members of the folk dancing group Sprigulītis and others who are interested in promoting awareness of Latvia in the Australian community, particularly in Canberra.
The coordinators would welcome further volunteers to donate some time on this day to staff the Latvian stand and distribute information and interact with attendees. Šogad, no 12. līdz 14. februārim Kanberā tiek rīkots gadskārtējais Daudzkultūru Festivāls (National Multicultural Festival 2016) kurā sestdien, 13. februārī (tikai vienu dienu) būs arī Latvijas Ārlietu Ministrijas pārstāvēta nodaļa (stand) Eiropas Savienības (ES) valstu nodalījumā – “EU Village”. Ar Latvijas vēstnieka Austrālijā un Jaunzēlandē Andra Teikmaņa ierosinājumu un viņa, un vēstnieka kancelejas darbinieku, it sevišķi Ilzes Voitinas atbalstu un plašu Latvijas Institūta izdotiem informācijas materiāliem par Latviju, Latvijas nodaļu ES valstu daļā ir uzņēmušies iekārtot un pārstāvēt daži Kanberas latvieši ar kaislīgiem palīgiem, kā Kanberas tautas deju kopa Sprigulītis un citiem, kuru interesēs ir paust Latvijas vārdu Austrālijā un it sevišķi Kanberā.
