Greetings to the World Latvian Economics and Innovation Forum, with a focus on the Asia-Pacific Region, from the President of the Republic of Latvia.
Dear Forum participants, organisers and supporters,
It is with great pleasure that I welcome and congratulate you on your participation in the third global Latvian Economics and Innovation Forum, which is being held for the very first time outside of Latvia.
I thank the World Free Latvian Association, the Latvian Federation of Australia and New Zealand and the Foreign Ministry of the Republic of Latvia for their dedication as organisers of this forum, in enabling a meeting of internationally minded entrepreneurs and providing a vehicle for the exchange of ideas and experiences as well as practical networking.
As we approach the one-hundredth anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Latvia, it is especially important that we engage the valuable intellectual and entrepreneurial resources of Latvians, wherever in the world they may currently be living or working. We value every good idea, the discovery of promising opportunities and the confidence of individuals to work towards these goals, whilst making decisions along the way that will allow them to reap the benefits of the commitments they make.
Latvian timber products, consumable produce, technology, chemicals and other businesses have all found successful outlets in the Asia-Pacific region. I am convinced that, despite the geographic challenges, there are still many business opportunities which beckon the discovery and developmet of economic synergies between Latvia and the Asia-Pacific region. I sincerely hope that this forum in Melbourne will provide a significant platform for the exchange of valuable business ideas and will enhance the interaction of Latvian entrepreneurs with an exciting developing market that is at the forefront of innovation and growth. My wish to you is one of fruitful interaction, and the ability to identify and seize new business opportunities that can be successfully developed from the year 2017, onwards!

Man ir liels gods sveikt jūs trešajā Pasaules latviešu ekonomikas un inovācijas globālajā forumā, kas pirmo reizi notiek ārpus Latvijas robežām.
Paldies foruma rīkotājiem – Pasaules Brīvo latviešu apvienībai, Latviešu apvienībai Austrālijā un Jaunzēlandē un Latvijas Ārlietu ministrijai – par ieguldīto darbu, lai organizētu šāda mēroga starptautisku uzņēmēju satikšanās un domu apmaiņas pasākumu.
Ceļā uz Latvijas nākamo simtgadi mums jo īpaši nepieciešams tas intelektuālais un uzņēmējdarbības resurss, kas piemīt Latvijas cilvēkiem, lai kurā pasaules vietā viņi šobrīd dzīvotu un strādātu. Mums vajadzīga ikviena laba ideja, ikviens labs darbs un drosme strādāt, pieņemt lēmumus un par tiem atbildēt!
Āzijas un Klusā okeāna reģionā jau patlaban veiksmīgi strādā Latvijas kokapstrādes, pārtikas, tehnoloģiju, ķīmijas un citu nozaru uzņēmumi. Taču esmu pārliecināts, ka, neskatoties uz ģeogrāfiski lielo attālumu, sadarbības attīstības iespējas vēl ir daudzās jomās. Patiesi ceru, ka Melburnā notiekošais forums kļūs par labu domu apmaiņas platformu un veicinās latviešu uzņēmēju sadarbību un jaunu tirgu apgūšanu. Novēlu jums auglīgu darbu un spēju ieraudzīt vēl nesaskatītas biznesa iespējas, ko veiksmīgi attīstīt jaunajā 2017. gadā!
