The Adelaide Latvian school learning program is based on a different theme each year, and this year the theme is Latvian food. On Saturday, 9th of April while the teachers were in Sydney for professional development, the playgroup, kindergarten and school students with their parents went on an excursion to an apple farm, ‘Imanta’, in the Adelaide hills not far from the town of Ashbourne. Inta and Juris Skābe hosted the school community, with Juris also teaching the Adelaide Latvian school about different apple varieties, while everyone had the opportunity to gather some of the apples from the apple trees.
Activities were prepared for the children by teacher, Margota Puķīte. These included trying to bite into an apple hanging from a string, peel the longest apple peel and attempting to bite into an apple floating on water.
It was a beautiful day spent in the Adelaide Hills.
Šī gada Adelaides latviešu skolas (ALS) tēmats ir latviešu ēdieni. Sestdien, 2016. gada 9. aprīlī, kamēr skolotāji bija kursos Sidnejā – spēļu grupa, bērnudārzs un skolas skolēni, kopā ar saviem vecākiem devās izbraukumā uz ābeļdarzu “Imanta”. Ābeļdārzs atrodas Adelaides kalnos, netālu no Ašbornas mazpilsētas. ALS saimi laipni pie sevis ciemos uzņēma Inta un Juris Skābes. Juris stāstīja ALS par ābolu šķirnēm un visiem klātesošajiem bija iespēja pievienoties ābolu vākšanas talkā.
Skolotāja Margota Puķīte bija sagatavojusi interesantas aktivitātes bērniem: mēģināt iekost ābolu, kas karājās no striķa, mizot visgarāko ābolu mizu un mēģināt iekost ābolu kas peld ūdenī.
Bija skaisti pavadīta diena Adelaides kalnos.
