Latvian Ev. Lutheran church of Queensland

The Latvian Ev. Lutheran church of Queensland formed on the 21st of November, 1987, when at a joint meeting of the Latvian Ev. Lutheran church of Brisbane, and Latvian Ev. Lutheran Māra church of Brisbane decided to amalgamate. The congregation’s first service was held on 21st of February, 1988.

The Churches services are held each month at Nazareth Lutheran Church, 12 Hawthorn St, Woolloongabba. Since 1990 the church’s pastor has been Brigita Saiva, for whom we celebrated her 85th birthday in February 2015, and on 21st of November will celebrate her 25 years of service since ordination. Over recent years, services have been lead by visiting pastors from Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and other congregations, and therefore services are held on Saturdays.

‘Sunday mornings for God’ are meetings held monthly (except January) in member’s homes to discuss various themes. These meetings began in 1994 and on 17th of August 2014 the group celebrated 20 years of meetings.
